Devil May Cry 2017 – director Hideaki Atsuno hints at new game in 2017
It looks like the stylish and action-packed world of video games is about to get a new title announced as far as Capcom is concerned: Devil May Cry 3, Rival Schools, and Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Atsuno has announced that he will be revealing a new game sometime this 2017.
In a tweet from the game director’s official Twitter account, Atsuno greeted his followers a Happy New Year and said he will “exert himself” in order to announce a new game for this year.
According to a report on Game Rant, speculations already abound as to what Atsuno’s next game will be. One possibility and rumor is Devil May Cry 5 – which will bring back the original hotshot version of Dante and stray away from the financially disappointing reboot of 2013. Another is a new Dragon’s Dogma title, which would be a great comeback series as well. However, most hardcore fans are hoping for a new Power Stone or Rival Schools title – two fighters from Capcom’s brawler library that haven’t seen a new sequel for more than a decade.
While there certainly are a lot of IPs that Atsuno and Capcom could revive and make new games out of, the video game publisher has a lot of interest leaning to HD remasters of their past games. The Resident Evil franchise revived and rereleased some of their best and brightest titles for the new generation of consoles just in time for the series’ 20th Anniversary last year, so if Atsuno is looking to aim for a new game announcement in 2017, a classic franchise’s return would definitely get fans happy. — TJD, GMA News
